Add Customer Action Types

When you are adding customer action types, netFORUM inserts customer actions triggered by activities performed in netFORUM only if you enable an active Workflow Rule, or associate the Action Type with a netFORUM object. For example if a customer registers for an event, that registration will not trigger netFORUM to insert an action for that customer unless the you have enabled a workflow to or associated an object with the Action Type.

Adding Customer Action Types

The Add - Customer Action Type contains two fields that govern how you navigate through the wizard. The table name is the name of the database table that stores the netFORUM data that relates to this action type. The object is the netFORUM object that relates to the data in the table. Choose the steps to follow based on your knowledge on these two fields.

If You Know the Table Name

To add Action Types, complete the following steps:

  1. Go to Modules>CRM>Customer Setup link. The Customer Setup Profile opens.
  2. Go to the More child form tab and select Scoring.
  3. Click the Add icon, on customer action type child form. This opens the Add - Customer Action Type window.
  4. Enter the name of the Action Type in the action type field.
  5. If desired, enter a short description of the Action Type in the action description field.
  6. Expand the category drop-down menu and select which category this new action type best fits into. The categories correspond to netFORUM modules.
  7. Optional, you can select the appropriate table from the table name drop-down menu.
  8. Once you select the table name, the object drop-down populates with objects associated to that table. Select the appropriate object name from the object drop-down menu.
  9. Click the Save button. The Action Type window of the Customer Action Type Add Wizard opens.
  10. Check your entries and click the Next button. The Add Scoring Workflow window opens.
  11. Do you want this Action Type associated to an individual customer, an organization, or the address owner? Select what customer to associate with the action type from the customer key column drop-down list.

  12. Do you want the action to occur on the customer's birth date, the date the customer registered, or do you want to add a date for the Action Type? Select the date from the date column drop-down list. Add Date is the default and adds a date marker for the Action Type itself.
  13. Click the Save button.

    The customer action type child form updates and the new Action Type displays under the category in which it was created.

If You Don't Know the Table Name

Add the Action Type using the Table Chooser button or the Save button.

Using the Table Chooser Button

To take advantage of the Table Chooser button, complete the following steps:

  1. Go to Modules>CRM>Customer Setup link. The Customer Setup Profile opens.
  2. Go to the More child form tab and select Scoring.
  3. Click the Add icon, on customer action type child form. This opens the Add - Customer Action Type pop-up window.
  4. Enter the name of the Action Type in the action type field.
  5. Select the Category for the Action Type from the category drop-down list.
  6. Click the Table Chooser button to start the wizard. The AddGroup Item Link window opens with your content group pre-populated from your selection in the previous window.
  7. Select a group item from the drop-down box. The choices for group item link are based on your selection.
  8. Select a group item link from the drop-down box. The wizard uses your selection in the group item link to choose the table you will use.
  9. Click the Next button. The Select Table and Object window of the wizard opens.
  10. Select the table name from the drop-down list. netFORUM gives you just one or two choices based on the group item link you entered in the previous page.
  11. Select the object from the drop-down list. Objects are limited based on your table selection.
  12. Click the Save button. The Add Scoring Workflow window opens.
  13. Do you want this Action Type associated to an individual customer, an organization, or the address owner? Select what customer to associate with the action type from the customer key column drop-down list.
  14. Do you want the action to occur on the customer's birth date, the date the customer registered, or do you want to add a date for the Action Type? Select the date from the date column drop-down list. Add Date is the default and adds a date marker for the Action Type itself.
  15. Click the Save button. The new Action Type Profile displays.

Using the Save button

To have netFORUM fill in the table for you, use the following steps:

  1. Go to Modules>CRM>Customer Setup link. The Customer Setup Profile opens.
  2. Go to the More child form tab and select Scoring.
  3. Click the Add icon, on customer action type child form. This opens the Add - Customer Action Type window.
  4. Enter the name of the Action Type in the action type field.
  5. Select the Category for the Action Type from the category drop-down list.
  6. Click the Save button. The Add Scoring Workflow window opens.
  7. Do you want this Action Type associated to an individual customer, an organization, or the address owner? Select the customer to associate with the action type from the customer key column drop-down list.
