System Audit records non-organization specific events such as a logon or edit of an activation code. Summary Organization Audit tracks organization specific events such as activities performed and by what user.

Manage Audit Trails information can be helpful in identifying events that have occurred in the database. For example, if you want to know who closed the fiscal year of an organization and when, you could look it up in the Summary Organization Audit. Keep in mind that the System Audit and Summary Organization Audit information can be removed, so it is important to restrict the delete rights to these menu selections if you plan to use the history.
