Labor Allocations

How does the employee labor allocations get entered in the system?

The distribution code associated with each earning code on a timesheet, determines how the employee's labor hours and earnings dollars are allocated. It is a common practice to have a distribution code associated with each individual employee, particularly when they work differing amounts among several programs during any given work period. As payroll timesheets are processed, the distribution code is then edited to reflect the number of hours worked in each program by that employee.

Do the accounting entries reflect fully allocated labor efforts?

Yes, the accounting entries use the distributions in place at the time of the Transfer to Accounting to allocate the earnings among the various funds, programs, cost centers, etc. Benefits can also be fully allocated during the transfer process based on the distribution set on the Maintain>Payroll>Benefit Codes>Distribution tab. Thus, the payroll entries are fully allocated once they reach Accounting.
