How Do I Cancel a Sales Order?

The following is a checklist for canceling a sales order that is unfulfilled or partially fulfilled. Sales orders can be created for "Cash Customers" or customer orders "On Account." Only "On Account" type sales orders, that are unfulfilled or partially fulfilled, can be cancelled.   1. Open the Activities>Accounts Receivable>Cancel Orders form.
  2. On the Cancel Orders table, double-click any cell on the Summary level (which is the first level), to open the Cancel Order Detail form.
  3. On the Cancel Order Detail form, enter a unique Cancel Number or use the auto-increment feature. (If needed, review the checklist for Setting Up Order Entry.)
  4. Enter the Date of the cancellation or accept the default of today.
  5. Select the name of the person canceling the item from the drop-down list.
  6. Enter comments, if desired.
  7. On the Detail table, enter the Quantity to Cancel. The system defaults to the quantity left to fulfill the order.
  8. Enter comments or the reason for the cancellation.
  9. Click Commit.
