To clear cache in netFORUM, go to the Admin module and choose the Clear cache group item link.
The Initiate All Clear Cache page will appear. Press the OK button.
Use this function to delete all existing cached metadata. This would be required only if netFORUM does not seem to be picking up metadata changes made in the ToolKit. Using the Admin > Initiate All Clear Cache option affects all users and causes a temporary degradation of system performance. After clearing the cache, netFORUM gradually re-populates the cache from the database as each piece of metadata is requested.
This clears the cache for the entire iWeb application, for all users. This is more comprehensive then the ordinary Refreshing Your netFORUM Session link.
Below is a list of Toolkit, Admin and CMS features and whether or not they may require clearing cache before the changes take effect:
Feature | Required Session Reset? | Requires Cache Reset? |
---|---|---|
Search Control | No | No |
Workflow Rule | Yes | Yes |
Form Link | Yes | |
Form - converting a form from a non-designed form to a designed form | Yes |
You can add a very useful Internet Explorer (IE) link to jump to the clear cache page for any netFORUM site. This can be helpful if you work in several different netFORUM sites.
Add an IE favorite or link, and change the URL to be this:
javascript:if(document.location.href.toUpperCase().indexOf('/IWEB/') == -1) alert('You are not in iWeb'); else if(document.location.href.indexOf('/md/') == -1) document.location.href='md/md_cache_clean_all.aspx?Tab=Admin&TabItem=Overview'; else document.location.href='md_cache_clean_all.aspx?Tab=Admin&TabItem=Overview';
Next, from any netFORUM iWeb site, if you click this favorite, then you will go straight to the Clear cache page.
When you are done, you will have an IE link on your IE Links bar (wherever you placed it). You could also do this as a IE favorite instead of a Link. Whenever you click the link, assuming your current browser window/tab is in any netFORUM iWeb site, you will go right to the clear cache page.
