Add Certification Program

A Certification Program is a program that certifies that an individual has met special qualifications within a field. The end result of a Certification Program may be to earn a professional certificate, continuing education units (CEUs), or a professional designation (e.g., Certified Public Accountant). Add a Certification Program after you have added Courses and Exams, but before you add Certificants.

Adding a Certification Program

The Add - Certification Program page is divided into three sections:

To add a Certification Program, complete the following steps::

  1. Go to Modules > Certification > Program Mgmt > Add Certification Program. The Add - Certification Program page appears.
  2. Complete the Program Summary section fields as described in the table below:
    Field Name Required? Description
    program code Required Enter the identifying code for the new certification program in this field.
    program name Required Enter the "friendly" name of the new certification program in this field. This is the name users will see when searching for certification programs.
    program type Optional Expand this drop-down menu and select the type of certification program being added.
    program description Required Enter a short description of what the new certification program entails and any other information that users may find helpful.
  3. Complete the Process Summary section fields as described in the table below:

    certification term Optional Enter how long the certification will last.
    application term Optional Enter how long the application is valid.
    renewal program Optional Select the renewal program for this certification.
    designation awarded on completion Optional Select the designation awarded for completion of this certification program.
    has certificate? Optional Click this check box if this is a certificate program.
    post to web/remove from web Optional Enter the dates this program should be visible on the eWeb site.
  5. Complete the Requirements Summary section fields as described in the table below:

    prerequisites required? Optional Click this check box if this condition is required for this certification program.
    payment of fees required Optional Click this check box if this condition is required for this certification program.
    exams required? Optional Click this check box if this condition is required for this certification program.
    references required? Optional Click this check box if this condition is required for this certification program.
    other criteria description Optional Click this check box if this condition is required for this certification program.
  7. Click the Save button.
  8. Note: After specifying what is required in this section (courses, CEUs, and so on), you can save the program and use the Requirements tab on the Certification Program profile to define specific requirements such as a specific course, number of CEUs required, and so forth.
