Adding a Stock Gift
If a constituent donates Stock, netFORUM has the ability to track stock name, number of stock shares, and share price. netFORUM also provides the ability to also enter the stock liquidation amount which is assumed to be the market value of the stock the day it is gifted. Further, the liquidation price will equate to the gift amount and/or tax deductible amount. Both can be overridden if applicable. This is described in more detail below.
To Add a Gift of Stock:
- Go to the Add - Fundraising Gift page.
- Enter the constituent's name (Type the first few letters of the organization's name or individual's last name and then click the Look Up button ).
- If the gift has been solicited, enter the solicitor's name if desired.
- If the constituent has any outstanding pledges or pledge schedule, you may note both in the pledge drop-down menus.
- Select a product code. The resulting campaign, appeal, package, and fund codes will be completed as a result of your product code selection.
- For gift type, select Stock.
When you enter a gift type of stock, the stock gift type fields will become available for completion. Specifically, the name, number of shares, price, the liquidation amount, and the liquidation date fields will become available to complete as seen in the image below.
