Credit Card Vault
If the Authorize.Net payment processor is being used by your site (as set in the PaymentAPI_iWeb system option) you will have the ability to store user's credit card information in the payment gateway for later use in NetForum via tokenization.
Tip: If using the system option DoNotSaveCreditCardInfo, credit cards are no longer stored in NetForum in any form. You must use a payment processor that supports tokenization, such as Authorize.Net, to enable this system option and use recurring or installment payments. When needed, these types of payments are passed from NetForum to the payment gateway using a token issued by the payment gateway upon the initial payment authorization.
To use the Credit Card Vault in COE, complete the following steps:
- Enable the appropriate payment processor in the PaymentAPI_iWeb and PaymentAPI_eWeb system options.
- Complete the order as described in Centralized Order Entry.
- Expand the batch drop-down menu and select the batch to be used for this transaction.
- Enter a purchase order number in the po number field if desired.
- Expand the type drop-down menu and choose either the prepaid or installment payments option. These are the only two options that will display the payment drop-down menu.
- The transaction date field will default to the date set for the batch selected from the batch drop-down menu.
- Expand the payment drop-down menu and select the new payment option.
- Expand the payment method drop-down menu and choose a credit card method of payment.
- Complete the fields for the credit card payment method you chose in the lower right portion of the Centralized Order Entry | Order form.
- Click the Save button.
This will complete your transaction and also save the credit card number used with this profile for a later transaction in the Authorize.Net Credit Card Vault, with NetForum recording a reference token to that stored payment information. No credit cards are stored in NetForum save in encrypted form when passed from the Credit Card vault.
The next time you process an order for this user, when you expand the payment drop-down menu this credit card number (in masked form only as demonstrated below) will be available for selection.
Payment Information Section Showing Stored Credit Card Numbers Selecting one of the stored credit card numbers will use that account and all of its stored information for the new transaction.
Note: You must enable the DoNotSaveCreditCardInfo system option if you wish to store credit card information.
Note that even if you submit a "new payment", the payment gateway may use an already-existing token if you submit the same credit card as was used for an earlier payment that was tokenized. You'll know this was the case if you don't see a newly added saved customer payment.
