Adding a Premium

Premiums are (taxable) gifts given to a donor in exchange for a (non-taxable) donation. Examples of premiums include merchandise such as a t-shirts or publications. Premiums can also include taxable portions of fundraising events or sessions such as the cost of dinner at a banquet or greens fees for a golf outing as well as memberships.

Before an item can be used as a premium it must first exist in NetForum. For example, if you would like to award a membership to a donor for making a gift, the membership must first be set up in the Membership module.

To add a premium, complete the following steps:

  1. Go to Modules>Fundraising>More...
  2. Click the Find Premium group item link. The Premium Group item appears under the More... link.
  3. Click the Add Premium group item link. The Add - Premium page opens.
  4. Fill in the fields as described in the table below:

  • You must also set the conditions that will make this premium available for a donation.
  • You must also associate the premium to a fund. This will allow it to be made available to donors who make donations to that fund.
  • When a membership is used as a premium, the join and expiration dates of the membership will be based on the date the premium was awarded to the donor.
