Keyword
Keywords are added to NetForum in the Admin module. Once added, keywords can be applied to nearly every object created in NetForum to aid in searches.
Keywords categories can also be created to allow you to group similar keywords into logical categories. A keyword category must be created before keywords can be added to that category.
Keyword Categories
Keyword categories provide a way to logically group the keywords created in NetForum.
Adding a Keyword Category
To add a keyword category, complete the following steps:
- Select to open the Admin module.
- Select Add Keyword Category page.
Note: You might need to scroll through the list of Group Items for the Keyword Categories group item to be visible.

- Enter a short description of the keyword category in the keyword category description field.
- Click Save to save the new category.
The keyword category is now available for use when creating a keyword. Keywords can be used when using the Find function in NetForum.
Keyword Category Profile
A Keyword Category Profile is available after a keyword category is created.
The Keyword Category Profile displays basic information about the keyword category along with the keywords that have been assigned to it. The keywords assigned to the category are visible under the Keywords child form.
Adding Keywords into the System
Keywords can be added to nearly every object in NetForumand are useful when trying to locate an object via the Find functionality.
There are several ways to add a keyword:
- From the Add Keyword group item link in the Admin module.
- From the Keywords child form located on the Keyword Category Profile page.
- From the profile page for various objects.
Adding a Keyword from the Add Keyword Group Item Link
To add a keyword, complete the following steps:
- Click the Keywords group item to expand the list of available group items.
- Click the Add Keyword group item to open the Add Keyword page.
- Expand the keyword category drop-down list and select the category to which you would like to add a new keyword.
- Enter the keyword in the keyword field.
- Enter a short description of the keyword in the description field.
- Click Save.
The keyword becomese available wherever the keyword field is present, and it can be added to objects.
Adding a Keyword from the Keyword Category Profile
To add a keyword from a keyword category profile, complete the following steps:
- Navigate to a Keyword Category Profile page.
- Click the GoTo General goto icon.png icon next to the Keyword Category Profile you wish to open.
- Click the Add icon located on the keywords child form to open the Add - Keyword pop-up window.
They keyword category field will default to the Keyword Category of the profile you are working from. You may expand the keyword category drop-down menu and change the category to which you would like to add the new keyword (if applicable.)
- Enter the new keyword in the keyword field.
- Enter a short description of the new keyword in the description field.
- Add - Keyword Page with Fields Completed
- Click the Save button.
The new keyword becomes available wherever the keyword field is present, and it can be added to objects.
Adding Keywords to Objects in netFORUM
To add a keyword to an object in netFORUM, complete the following steps:
- Navigate to the Profile Page of the object to which you wish to add the keyword.
- Click the Keyword icon located on the Profile Page to open the Edit - Keywords or Tags pop-up window.
- If the Keyword icon is not present on the Profile Page, keywords are not available for that Profile.
- Enter the first few letters of the keyword you wish to apply to the profile in the keywords/tags field.
- A list of keywords matching the letters you entered will display.
- Click the keyword you to apply to the Profile.
- The keyword appears in the keywords/tags field.
- Click Save.
You can add multiple keywords to a Profile by completing the previous steps before clicking the Save button.
The keyword is applied to the profile and can be used to search for the profile.
Finding Keyword Categories and Keywords
There are multiple ways to locate a record using the Find page. The Find functionality is universal throughout NetForum. The results display in a List page, which is also universal throughout NetForum.
Keyword Category and Keyword information is stored in the database by the fields completed in the Add Keyword Category and Add Keyword processes. When using the Find—Keyword Category / Find - Keyword form, you search for a desired keyword category using information stored in the database via these fields. Search results viewed on the List—Keyword Category / List - Keyword page display in columns, and each column of search results corresponds to a data field. Only a limited, pre-defined set of columns pertaining to Keyword Categories / Keywords are available to you on the Find—Keyword Categories /Find Keyword page.
- The more specific you make search criteria, the narrower the results returned will be. A search for last names beginning with "T" returns more results than a search for last names beginning with "Tay."

Most Finds and Queries in NetForum are run in CRM. The Find page is set up with a predefined set of columns (fields) versus a Query which allows you to select from any column in the table.
Using Keywords in COE
This section describes an example of keywords in iWeb, using the COE.
To search by a publication keyword in COE, use the following steps:
- Navigate to the Profile of an Individual or Organization and click on COE.
- Select publication or merchandise.
- Click the link to search by keywords.
- Select a keyword to search.
- Click Save. Now you can search by the selected keyword.
When using the lookup, only products associated with the selected keywords are returned.
FAQ
Keywords and Super Search
Q. Can Keywords work for the super search?
A. We have not tried to do this, but it will probably not work because a super search criterion needs to specify a destination form, and since keywords can apply so broadly, it will not be possible to using the super search framework.
