xWeb Diagnostics

This topic explains how to run the diagnostics tool xWeb Laboratory to verify that an xWeb site and xWeb User are configured properly. This can be run by a nontechnical person; you need the following information to log into the lab:

  • The URL of the xWeb site which ends in netFORUMXML.asmx.
  • The user name of the xWeb User
  • The password of the xWeb User

If you can get the steps below to work, then this means that the site and user are configured properly. If all these steps do not work, there is something wrong with the site and user setup. Contact an administrator to resolve.

Step 1

Load the following URL in a new browser window:

http://xweblab.avectra.com

Step 2

In the Login page, enter the xWeb URL, username and password, and click Authenticate:

If you cannot get past this page, something is wrong with the site or user. Please contact an administrator for resolution.

Step 3

If you can get past Step 2, then you should see a page like this on the right. Choose an object from the Object drop-down list.

Give the page a moment to refresh.

After the page refreshes from the postback, click Run.

Step 4

After clicking Run, you should see results similar to this:

Resolution

If you can get these steps to work, the site and user are set up correctly. If the vendor is having any problems, you can at least be sure that the site/user are right and that any difficulties the vendor is experiencing are separate. Please see other pages in xWeb for more information about what to do next. Also check with an administrator to determine the underlying issue with the site or user setup.
