Social Networking
Important! Social Networking Account integration with NetForum is deprecated. Build: 2014.01
Social Networking fields for sites such as MemberFuse, Facebook, and Twitter have now been activated to post updates to social networking sites from eWeb such as when registering for an Event or making a purchase from the Online Store. The customer will always have a choice whether he or she desires to post a status update to their social networking site of choice. A series of steps must be taken to implement this posting functionality. They are described in detail in the sections below.
MemberFuse
The Abila the social networking space includes MemberFuse, the leading provider of web technology connecting member and industry communities. This MemberFuse integration with netFORUM is designed to give your members and customers even more high impact methods of collaboration and networking. See MemberFuse for more information.
Facebook / Twitter
To implement social networking site posting from netFORUM, complete the following steps:- Contact Avectra Support to set the EnableEwebSocialIntegration system option needed for social networking integration.
- Once social networking integration has been enabled, a social network app for each networking application you plan to use (Facebook and/or Twitter) will need to be created. Once each app has been created, it will need to be linked to netFORUM through a series of system options. Note: This requires administrator access.
- Set-up appropriate posting messaging for when customers post events, merchandise purchasing, and so forth in Inventory Setup.
Customers may then enter their social networking accounts through the Social Information section on the My Information page on eWeb or through the New Visitor Registration set-up when new accounts register and choose to enter their social media handles.
Once social networking accounts have been entered and linked, customers may post and share netFORUM information with social networks when purchases are made through the Online Store.
See Facebook and Twitter for more information about how to integrate and link these social networking sites with netFORUM to get started.
Social Profile
Each individual profile has a Social Profile available. The Social Profile is a web-crawler that uses information provided on the Individual Profile and matches it with public information displayed on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn profiles. The Social Profile is only available in iWeb.
To view the Social Profile, complete the following steps:
- Mouse-over the Action Items tab found at the right of the Individual Profile to expand the Action Items fly-out menu.
- Click the Social Profile option.
This displays the Social Profile for the Individual Profile you are examining.
Note: The Social Profile only retrieves information that the user makes public.
Social information added on eWeb will also display in the social network handles child form found on the Individual Profile under the Contact Info tab.
Social Information
Clicking the Edit button located in the Social Information section of the My Information page will open Edit Social Information page.
From this page, a user may link their social networking accounts so that he/she may post updates to Facebook and Twitter when registering for an event, making a purchase, and so forth.
Once account name has been entered, the Autopost Updates to Facebook/Twitter hyperlink must be clicked for the account to be authorized and linked to netFORUM.
The customer will be prompted to authorize the Facebook/Twitter account access to netFORUM.
After authorization, the customer should click the Update Social Information button to update the account or Save button if authorizing the account for the first time.
Once linked, the customer will then have the option to share data with his/her social accounts such as event registrations, merchandise purchases and so forth. Note that the option to post such notices will always be available at the time of purchase as well and netFORUM will never post without first prompting the customer to share data with his/her social networking accounts. For example, in the image below, the customer has linked a Twitter account to his netFORUM account. As a result, the option to share his purchase on Twitter is available by clicking the Social button once the purchase made.
Remember that you may always customize the message used when posting to social accounts as well in Product Type Setup.
