Change password
Overview
The Change Password page in eWeb enables a logged-in user to update their password.
A change password link on the My Information (eWeb) page provides a link to the page.
Logging in to eWeb After an iWeb Password Reset
If a user's eWeb login password has been reset—either by clicking the reset password button or the force user to change password check box on the Edit Web Login form—the user will be required to change their password the next time they attempt to access a login-only eWeb area.
Once the user enters their new password, they will receive an e-mail notification that their password has been reset. Which correspondence template to send is based on the ResetPasswordTemplateGuid system option.
Administrator Options for Web Login Settings
Turning off HideUserPasswordResetFields system option allows administrators greater control over individuals' password management. You can manually enter a new password for an individual. You can also reset their password to a random character string, which you may then view at the bottom of the Web Login form.
Caution! Use caution when disabling the HideUserPasswordResetFields system option. Leaving it enabled maintains total privacy for individuals' passwords. This option should be disabled only if you wish to provide your staff the ability to manually set or reset passwords, for example when talking to a customer over the phone who is requesting assistance in logging in.
To enter a new password for an individual:
If the HideUserPasswordResetFields system option has been turned off, users will see two additional fields in the Web Login form: new password and confirm new password.
These fields allow you to enter a new password for an individual, instead of simply forcing them to change their own password.
If an e-mail address is on record, they will receive an e-mail notifying them that their password has been changed.
To reset and view an individual's reset password:
When the HideUserPasswordResetFields system has been disabled, you also gain the option to reset the individual's password and view the random character string to which their password has been reset.
Click the reset password button. The individual's password is immediately reset, and the randomly-generated password appears under the reset password button, as highlighted in the screen shot above.
