Vantiv Mapping

This page explains the mappings between netFORUM data and data in the Vantiv online terminal.

Customer ID

The netFORUM Customer ID (the numeric portion without leading zeros or the trailing I or O) is set in the Customer ID field in Vantiv.

Order Source

The Order Source field in Vantiv is important because it indicates the type of payment and because it determines how likely credit card issuers are to approve the payment. Credit Card issuers are more likely to approve payments with an Order Source of recurring than those with an Order Source of the default, ecommerce. For these reasons, netFORUM sets all possible credit card electronic payments to recurring, instead of the default, ecommerce. A credit card payment has the Order Source of recurring when any of the following is true of the payment:

Reference Number

The reference number on a netFORUM payment is the same as the Vantiv Payment ID. You can search for this code in both netFORUM and in Vantiv to locate a payment transaction in either system.

The accounting batch code originates in netFORUM and Vantiv picks it up and labels it the Merchant Order Number field.

The Merchant Transaction ID is based on back-end data in netFORUM. It is the first eight characters of the unique payment key (ac_payment_info.pin_key).

Note: Vantiv does not allow comments to be passed in the Reference Number field. Because the gateway uses only the original reference number for credits that result in a refund, you must process the payment and credit in the same batch for the batch to close properly.

Authorization Code

The authorization code is an alphanumeric string that originates in the processor (Vantiv). netFORUM stores the authorization code in the payment.

Note: You can search for the authorization code in both netFORUM and Vantiv. Be aware that authorization codes are not always unique. Authorization codes can be useful when you are speaking with a customer about a specific payment. Consumers can usually see the authorization code for a payment in their credit card website or billing statement.
