The Group Security tool enables access to Group Item Links. The Set Group Security tool enables an administrator to configure navigational/link security for groups to access Group Item Links within netFORUM.
This security model will enable Group Item Links to users in a particular security group. This kind of security can be used to turn on or off an entire module to a group.
Group Item Link security is an additive security in that this security bestows rights to users but does not revoke. The more groups a user belongs to, the more access they will get to links within netFORUM. In other words, if a user is in an Events groups that provides access to that module, and a Membership group that provides access to that module, then the user will see both modules, even if the Events security group does not provide access to the Events module.
This kind of security does not apply to database tables and columns; see Group Table Privilege and Group Column Privilege for information about database-oriented security.
The enable all button will check all the access checkboxes within that Module or Group Item.
Please remember to clear cache after making these changes. You do not need to Populate Group Privileges, because that security structure relates to database table/column permissions and not link permissions.
As with other Security Groups, you can enable or hide Admin module security settings, including MemberFuse Form Links.
Hide or enable Add, Remove, and Goto MemberFuse link options in this section by clicking the desired check box under the Access? or Hidden? column.
Group security can be managed by using the child forms available on the Security tab located on the Group Profile.
To manage group security from the Group Profile, complete the following steps:
This will open a pop-up window that will allow you to add either query rights, batch rights, search table rights, or content link rights to the selected group.
The group is now added to the selected child form and has access to that feature of the group.
From the privileged groups child form, you can grant access to this group item link to various security groups. You can also view, add, and delete Group Item Link Security settings one-by-one from the Group Item Link page in the Toolkit module, from the privileged groups child form, as shown in the nearby image.
If you are trying to enable or remove group access to a specific Group Item Link to multiple groups, this may be an easier way of doing this than the Set Group Security tool.
This feature enables to you copy the Group Item Link security configuration from one group to another.
You can launch this page from the Admin Overview page by clicking the Copy Group Security icon.
