Processing Commissions
Processing commissions creates a record that can be used on commission reports to determine how much a sales representative will be paid for sales. The amount of commission is based on the sales representative's commission schedule.
Workflow to Process Commissions
-
Add or use a Sales Cycle Schedule with a date that ends before today’s date. Commission can only be processed for Sales-Cycle Schedules that end before today’s date.
- Add a Commission Schedule for the same dates as the Sales Cycle Schedule and make sure you add a product type, even though it is not required.
- Add a Sales Rep to the Commission Schedule.
- On the Sales Rep Profile, add a Sales Territory with product type matching the Commission Schedule.
- Go to an Individual with an address in the region setup in the Sales Territory and purchase a product of the product type setup in the Commission Schedule. The batch’s transaction date that is used must fall in the dates of the Sales Cycle Schedule.
- Close the invoice and the batch.
- Run the Process Commission process. This will close the Sales Cycle Schedule and populate the commission for the Sales Rep.
Note: Keep in mind if there are sales cycles before the one you are trying to run, you need to process commissions until those cycles are met.
