Sales Setup

The Sales Module requires that the following be set-up:

Setting-up the Sales Module Functionality

Adding Your Opportunity Types

An Opportunity Type defines the different areas in which sales can be categorized such as an advertising, exhibit, merchandise or sponsorship sales opportunity. Further, opportunities are potential sales and the opportunity type in NetForum enables you to track these potential sales by category as such.

Adding an Opportunity Source

An Opportunity Source is what defines the origination of the prospective sales.

Adding an Opportunity Stage

An Opportunity Stage defines where in the sales process a prospective sale is currently.

Adding a Sales Territory

A sales territory is an area that a sales representative is responsible for and may consist of a customer or a combination of region and product type. A sales territory is generally assigned to a sales rep and used to track sales for calculating sales commissions.

Adding a Commission Schedule

Setting up Commission Schedules allows you to define the amount of commissions that will be paid to sales representatives on their sales. Commission Schedules are linked to sales representatives. Multiple schedules can be linked to a sales representative if they are paid different percentages for different product types.

Configuring User Settings for the Sales Module

NetForum users need certain settings to use the Sales module. The user settings allow you to manage each individual's profile and define permissions for access for specific functions. The Sales Module has two permission levels: The Sales Rep and the Sales Manager. See Sales Rep Setup for more information on configuring users.
