Group Item Link Procedures

Note: Each procedure begins by opening an Add or Edit Group Item Link form. There are many ways to open these forms depending on your location in the Toolkit module and the information that you know. We show just one of the ways in these procedures - from a Group Item Profile page. View the Add and Edit Group Item Link Forms topic to see the additional ways to open an Add or Edit Group Item Link form.

ClosedCreating a Group Item Link (general procedure)
  1. ClosedOpen the Add Group Item Link form.

    1. Open the Group Item Profile page by selecting Overview > Find Group Items from the left navigation menu, entering criteria on the Find Group Item form, and clicking Go.

      If more than one Group Item meets the search criteria, you must first select the desired Group Item before the Profile page displays.

    2. Click the Add button in the group item links child form.
  2. If the module or group item fields are blank on the Add Group Item Link form, select the enable editing of module/item check box, select a value from the module list box for the Content Group, and select a value from the group item list box for the Group Item.
  3. Enter values for the link text and link order.
  4. Select the open in new window? check box to open the Group Item Link destination in a modal pop up window.
  5. Select the new browser? check box to open the Group Item Link destination in a new browser window.
  6. Complete the remainder of the form according to the type of Group Item Link that you are creating.
  7. Click Save to create the new Group Item Link.

  8. Refresh your netFORUM session and clear cache if necessary.

ClosedEditing a Group Item Link
  1. ClosedOpen the Edit Group Item Link form.

    1. Open the Group Item Profile page by selecting Overview > Find Group Items from the left navigation menu, entering criteria on the Find Group Item form, and clicking Go.

      If more than one Group Item meets the search criteria, you must first select the desired Group Item before the Profile page displays.

    2. On the Group Item Profile page, click the expand/close button in the group item links child form header.
    3. Click the edit button for the Group Item Link.
  2. Make changes as desired.
  3. Click Save to save the changes.

  4. Refresh your netFORUM session and clear cache if necessary.

ClosedSoft-deleting a Group Item Link
  1. ClosedOpen the Edit Group Item Link form.

    1. Open the Group Item Profile page by selecting Overview > Find Group Items from the left navigation menu, entering criteria on the Find Group Item form, and clicking Go.

      If more than one Group Item meets the search criteria, you must first select the desired Group Item before the Profile page displays.

    2. On the Group Item Profile page, click the expand/close button in the group item links child form header.

    3. Click the edit button for the Group Item Link.

  2. Select the hide/disable record? check box.
  3. Click Save to save the changes.
  4. Refresh your netFORUM session and clear cache if necessary.
ClosedRecovering a soft-deleted Group Item Link
  1. ClosedOpen the Edit Group Item Link form.

    1. Open the Group Item Profile page by selecting Overview > Find Group Items from the left navigation menu, entering criteria on the Find Group Item form, and clicking Go.

      If more than one Group Item meets the search criteria, you must first select the desired Group Item before the Profile page displays.

    2. On the Group Item Profile page, click the expand/close button in the group item links child form header.

    3. Click the edit button for the Group Item Link.

  2. Clear the hide/disable record? check box.
  3. Click Save to save the changes.

  4. Refresh your netFORUM session and clear cache if necessary.

ClosedHard-deleting a Group Item Link

The DeleteMethod system option must be set to hard. Otherwise, only soft deletes are permitted on your system.

  1. ClosedDisplay the Profile page for the Group Item.

    Select Overview > Find Group Items from the left navigation menu, enter criteria on the Find Group Item form, and click Go.

    If more than one Group Item meets the search criteria, you must first select the desired Group Item before the Profile page displays.

  2. Click the expand/close button in the group item links child form header.
  3. Click the Delete button for the Group Item Link.

  4. Refresh your netFORUM session and clear cache if necessary.

ClosedCreating an Add Group Item Link
  1. ClosedOpen the Add Group Item Link form.

    1. Open the Group Item Profile page by selecting Overview > Find Group Items from the left navigation menu, entering criteria on the Find Group Item form, and clicking Go.

      If more than one Group Item meets the search criteria, you must first select the desired Group Item before the Profile page displays.

    2. Click the Add button in the group item links child form.
  2. If the module or group item fields are blank on the Add Group Item Link form, select the enable editing of module/item check box, select a value from the module list box for the Content Group, and select a value from the group item list box for the Group Item.
  3. Enter values for the link text and link order.
  4. Select the open in new window? check box to open the Group Item Link destination in a modal pop up window.
  5. Select the new browser? check box to open the Group Item Link destination in a new browser window.
  6. Select the list add icon? check box if the destination for this link is the form that will open when the user clicks the add button on the List page for the Group Item.
  7. In the link path box, enter /forms.
  8. In the link file box, enter DynamicEdit.aspx.
  9. In the link parameters box, enter ?Action=Add.
  10. In the form box, enter the name of the form to open when the Add Group Item Link is clicked.
  11. Click Save to create the new Group Item Link.

  12. Refresh your netFORUM session and clear cache if necessary.

ClosedCreating a Find Group Item Link
  1. ClosedOpen the Add Group Item Link form.

    1. Open the Group Item Profile page by selecting Overview > Find Group Items from the left navigation menu, entering criteria on the Find Group Item form, and clicking Go.

      If more than one Group Item meets the search criteria, you must first select the desired Group Item before the Profile page displays.

    2. Click the Add button in the group item links child form.
  2. If the module or group item fields are blank on the Add Group Item Link form, select the enable editing of module/item check box, select a value from the module list box for the Content Group, and select a value from the group item list box for the Group Item.
  3. Enter values for the link text and link order.
  4. Select the open in new window? check box to open the Group Item Link destination in a modal pop up window.
  5. Select the new browser? check box to open the Group Item Link destination in a new browser window.
  6. Complete the remainder of the form according to the type of Group Item Link that you are creating.
  7. In the link path box, enter /forms.
  8. In the link file box, enter DynamicSearch.aspx.
  9. In the form box, enter the name of the form to open when the Find Group Item Link is clicked.
  10. Click Save to create the new Group Item Link.

  11. Refresh your netFORUM session and clear cache if necessary.

ClosedCreating a List Group Item Link
  1. ClosedOpen the Add Group Item Link form.

    1. Open the Group Item Profile page by selecting Overview > Find Group Items from the left navigation menu, entering criteria on the Find Group Item form, and clicking Go.

      If more than one Group Item meets the search criteria, you must first select the desired Group Item before the Profile page displays.

    2. Click the Add button in the group item links child form.
  2. If the module or group item fields are blank on the Add Group Item Link form, select the enable editing of module/item check box, select a value from the module list box for the Content Group, and select a value from the group item list box for the Group Item.
  3. Enter values for the link text and link order.

  6. In the link path box, enter /forms.
  7. In the link file box, enter DynamicList.aspx.
  8. In the form box, enter the name of the form to open when the List Group Item Link is clicked.
  9. Click Save to create the new Group Item Link.

  10. Refresh your netFORUM session and clear cache if necessary.

ClosedCreating a Group Item Link to a Query Tool page
  1. ClosedOpen the Add Group Item Link form.

    1. Open the Group Item Profile page by selecting Overview > Find Group Items from the left navigation menu, entering criteria on the Find Group Item form, and clicking Go.

      If more than one Group Item meets the search criteria, you must first select the desired Group Item before the Profile page displays.

    2. Click the Add button in the group item links child form.
  2. If the module or group item fields are blank on the Add Group Item Link form, select the enable editing of module/item check box, select a value from the module list box for the Content Group, and select a value from the group item list box for the Group Item.
  3. Enter values for the link text and link order.
  4. Select the open in new window? check box to open the Group Item Link destination in a modal pop up window.
  5. Select the new browser? check box to open the Group Item Link destination in a new browser window.
  6. In the link path box, enter /forms.
  7. In the link file box, enter DynamicQuery.aspx.
  8. In the form box, enter the name of the form to open when the Query Group Item Link is clicked.
  9. Click Save to create the new Group Item Link.

  10. Refresh your netFORUM session and clear cache if necessary.

ClosedCreating a Group Item Link to Query Central
  1. ClosedOpen the Add Group Item Link form.

    1. Open the Group Item Profile page by selecting Overview > Find Group Items from the left navigation menu, entering criteria on the Find Group Item form, and clicking Go.

      If more than one Group Item meets the search criteria, you must first select the desired Group Item before the Profile page displays.

    2. Click the Add button in the group item links child form.
  2. If the module or group item fields are blank on the Add Group Item Link form, select the enable editing of module/item check box, select a value from the module list box for the Content Group, and select a value from the group item list box for the Group Item.
  3. In the link text box, enter Query Central.
  4. Enter a value for the link order.
  5. Select the open in new window? check box to open the Group Item Link destination in a modal pop up window.
  6. Select the new browser? check box to open the Group Item Link destination in a new browser window.
  7. In the link path box, enter /forms.
  8. In the link file box, enter QueryCentral.aspx.
  9. Select the same form that was used for the Query Group Item Link for this Group Item. When usi this Query Central Group Item Link to open Query Central, the Module field will default to the correct Content Group.
  10. Click Save to create the new Group Item Link.

  11. Refresh your netFORUM session and clear cache if necessary.

ClosedCreating a Group Item Link to an Overview or Profile page
  1. ClosedOpen the Add Group Item Link form.

    1. Open the Group Item Profile page by selecting Overview > Find Group Items from the left navigation menu, entering criteria on the Find Group Item form, and clicking Go.

      If more than one Group Item meets the search criteria, you must first select the desired Group Item before the Profile page displays.

    2. Click the Add button in the group item links child form.
  2. If the module or group item fields are blank on the Add Group Item Link form, select the enable editing of module/item check box, select a value from the module list box for the Content Group, and select a value from the group item list box for the Group Item.
  3. Enter values for the link text and link order.
  4. In the link path box, enter /forms.
  5. In the link file box, enter DynamicProfile.aspx.
  6. In the link parameters box enter ?key=00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000.
  7. In the form box, enter the name of the form (page) to open when the Group Item Link is clicked.
  8. Click Save to create the new Group Item Link.

  9. Refresh your netFORUM session and clear cache if necessary.

ClosedCreating a Group Item Link to a launch a report from Report Central
  1. ClosedOpen the Add Group Item Link form.

    1. Open the Group Item Profile page by selecting Overview > Find Group Items from the left navigation menu, entering criteria on the Find Group Item form, and clicking Go.

      If more than one Group Item meets the search criteria, you must first select the desired Group Item before the Profile page displays.

    2. Click the Add button in the group item links child form.
  2. If the module or group item fields are blank on the Add Group Item Link form, select the enable editing of module/item check box, select a value from the module list box for the Content Group, and select a value from the group item list box for the Group Item.
  3. Enter values for the link text and link order.
  4. In the link path box, enter /reports.
  5. In the link file box, enter ReportStart.aspx.
  6. In the reports box, enter the report name.
  7. Click Save to create the new Group Item Link.

  8. Refresh your netFORUM session and clear cache if necessary.

ClosedCreating a Group Item Link to a Wizard
  1. ClosedOpen the Add Group Item Link form.

    1. Open the Group Item Profile page by selecting Overview > Find Group Items from the left navigation menu, entering criteria on the Find Group Item form, and clicking Go.

      If more than one Group Item meets the search criteria, you must first select the desired Group Item before the Profile page displays.

    2. Click the Add button in the group item links child form.
  2. If the module or group item fields are blank on the Add Group Item Link form, select the enable editing of module/item check box, select a value from the module list box for the Content Group, and select a value from the group item list box for the Group Item.
  3. Enter values for the link text and link order.
  4. In the link path box, enter /forms.
  5. In the link file box, enter Wizard.aspx.
  6. If the wizard requires Querystring parameters, in the link parameters box enter ? (question mark) followed by the parameters.
  7. In the wizard box, enter the wizard name.
  8. Click Save to create the new Group Item Link.

  9. Refresh your netFORUM session and clear cache if necessary.

ClosedCreating a Help menu Group Item Link

  1. ClosedOpen the Add Group Item Link form.

    1. Open the Group Item Profile page by selecting Overview > Find Group Items from the left navigation menu, entering criteria on the Find Group Item form, and clicking Go.

      If more than one Group Item meets the search criteria, you must first select the desired Group Item before the Profile page displays.

    2. Click the Add button in the group item links child form.
  2. If the module or group item fields are blank on the Add Group Item Link form, select the enable editing of module/item check box, select a value from the module list box for the Content Group, and select a value from the group item list box for the Group Item.
  3. Enter values for the link text and link order.
  4. Select the help link? check box.
  5. In the link path box, enter the complete website URL for the link destination. This tells the the system to not add the website's application path before the name of the file.
  6. In the link file box, enter any single alphabetical character. This field is required, but not used by the framework for Help menu Group Item Links.
  7. Click Save to create the new Group Item Link.

  8. Refresh your netFORUM session and clear cache if necessary.

ClosedCreating a Group Item Link to a filtered List page

In the About Listing Specific Records topic, view an example in baseline netFORUM that uses DynamicLink.aspx.

Identify the key for the List page and the List Table setup to use. Typically, the key values will be the same.

  7. In the link file box, enter DynamicLink.aspx.

  8. In the link parameters box, enter the Querystring as:

    with the following substitutions:

    • your WHERE clause for [SQL WHERE CLAUSE]

  9. Click Save to create the new Group Item Link.

  10. Refresh your netFORUM session and clear cache if necessary.

Note: The Querystring entered in the link parameters box specifies Form information, so it is not necessary to enter the name of a form in the form box.

ClosedHiding a baseline Dashboard page
  1. In the Toolkit module, select Overview > Find Group Item Links in the left navigation menu.
  2. On the Find Group Item Link form, in the Link File box, enter DynamicDashboard.aspx.
  3. Click on the dashboard record.
  4. On the Edit Group Item Link form, select the hide/disable record? check box.
  5. Click Save.

  6. Refresh your netFORUM session and clear cache if necessary.
