Deleting a Merchandise Product

You can delete a product by going to the edit window and clicking Delete. To delete a record such as an Individual Profile, Event Profile, Committee Profile and so forth, view the Deleting a Record help topic.

Similar to deleting records, you will not be able to delete a product once financial transactions are associated with it. You will also be unable to delete the product when its details have not been deleted first such as price, demographics, sale dates, and so forth.

To delete a product:

  1. Go to the Merchandise Product Profile.
  2. Click the Edit button.
  3. In the window that displays, click the Delete button.
  4. You will be asked if you are sure you want to delete the record. Click OK.
    If you have not deleted product details first, such as price, sale dates, demographics and so forth (or if the product has already been purchased), you will receive an error message such as seen below.

When a product is unable to be deleted (such as when already been used in a financial transaction), you must make it inactive instead of deleting it. Click the Inactive check box to make a product inactive.
