Setting up a Certification Course (Session)

If your organization offers certification exams or courses as part of an event, you can set up an event session for the course or exam from the Event Profile.

To set up a certification course:

  1. Go to the Certification Exam Profile.
  2. On the Certification Exam Profile page, click the Add Session icon (or click the Add icon located on the Sessions child form.

This will open the Event - Session Information pop-up window.

To enter basic course information:

  1. Enter the (Course) Code.
  2. Enter the Product List Order.  This dictates where in a list of sessions this object will appear.
  3. Expand the Session Type drop-down menu and select the (Course) Session Type.
  4. Expand the Track drop-down menu and select the track this course is to be associated with.
  5. Enter a (Course) Title.
  6. Enter a (Course) Description.
  7. To restrict the number of people attending the course, select the Restrict Capacity check box. If this check box is selected, also enter the Capacity, or total number of registrations allowed.
  8. If the capacity is restricted, the Allow Waitlist? check box will become available. Click this check box if you wish to allow a waitlist for this course.
  9. Enter the Estimated Attendance.
  10. Click the Available for Members Only check box if this course will only be available to members.
  11. Click the Track Scores/Grades check box if grades and scores are to be tracked.
  12. Click the Ticketed? check box if attendees will be required to have a ticket.
  13. Enter a (Course) Session Goal.
  14. Enter Keywords to be used when searching for the course online.

To add key course dates and times:

  1. Enter a Start Date and Time.
  2. Enter an End Date and Time.

To enter course availability and course advertising dates:

  1. Click the Inactive check box if the course is currently not active.
  2. Enter an Registration Available date and available To date.
  3. Enter a Show as New From date and To date. (The course will appear in the New Products list during this time period.)
  4. Enter a Featured Product From date and To date. (The course will appear in the Featured Products banner during this time period.)

To post course/session information online:

  1. Click the Sell Online check box.
  2. Enter Sell Online From and To dates. (Event registration information will be available online during this time period.)

To enter the course registration fees:

  1. Enter the Session Fee Name.
  2. Enter Member and Non-member Fees for Early, Regular, and Late Registration.
  3. Expand the Charge Code drop-down menus and select the Charge Code to be used for each fee. Even if the fee is zero, you must still select a Charge Code.

  1. Click the Save button.

The Course is now added to the Certification Exam and available for use with a Certification Program.
