Running a Query

The Reports module uses Query Central to run queries to retrieve information from your database. A query searches for information in the database using specified data elements and search parameters. The result is a list that you can use to export to a Microsoft Excel file, PDF, or comma delimited file. You can also use the list to send an e-mail to a group, or create a mailing list to be used with the Messaging Wizard.

To run a query:

  1. Hover over the Modules tab in the top navigation bar. In the fly-out menu, click Reports to navigate to the Reports module.
  2. Expand the Query Central group item and click Queries.
  3. Select the desired type of query from the Type drop-down list.

  1. Click the Go button next to the query you wish to run.

  1. Select the query data elements for the information you want in your query results. Many of the query types have several data elements selected by default. Click the Clear All button if you wish to reset the form and deselect all of the data elements you have previously selected, or were selected by default.
  2. Once you have all of the data elements selected, click the Go button.
  3. If prompted, enter any additional parameters on the Query Parameters form.
  4. Click Go. A list of results displays.

Certain demographics fields are sortable in query results, including the CheckBox (Flag), DatetexBox, TextBox (currency), TextBox (string), and TextBox (integer). For more information on setting up custom demographics fields, see the help topic: Creating Custom Demographic Data Fields.

Saving Query Results

To save query results:

  1. Click the Quick Report icon located in the upper right corner of the query results (not shown in the image above.) This will open a pop-up window that will display the generated Quick Report.

  1. To save this report, click the Save icon. This will expand a list of formats you can use to save the report.
  2. Select the desired format from the list.

This will open a File Download window asking you to Open, Save, or Cancel the file download.

  1. Click the Save button to save the Quick Report.
To export to an ASCII Delimited/CSV, click the Export to ASCII Delimited/CSV icon.
