Inserting Data Merge Fields into Your Correspondence

Note: If you are using the Informz Integration with netFORUM, the Messaging Job Setup Wizard will have a slightly different look and feel. Further, not all steps will be available since some functions are handled by Informz.  For more information, view Using Informz for eMarketing.

In the Messaging Job Setup Wizard, on the Customize the E-Mail Template page, you can personalize your correspondence by copying and pasting Data Merge Fields into your message. The data merge fields are used as placeholders and at runtime, these fields (e.g., First Name) are replaced with the actual data values (e.g., John).

Note: The Data Merge Fields in the drop-down list are available based on the Recipient Type selected in Step 1 of the Wizard.

To add a data merge field to your correspondence:

  1. Select a field from the Data Merge Field drop-down list. The merge code displays in the field to the right of the drop-down list (e.g., when you select First Name from the drop-down list, {ind_first_name} displays in the next field.
  2. Click the Copy to Clipboard icon to copy the merge code (e.g., {reg_badge_firstname}).

  1. Place your mouse cursor in the document where you want to insert the data merge code.
  2. Right-click and select Paste from the menu to paste the merge code into the document.

When the message is sent, the code will be replaced with real data, personalizing your message.
