Dependent Membership Attributes
Recall that Child memberships share the Parent membership attributes even if they have a different Member Type set-up upon creation. For example, a Parent Member Type may have anniversary-based membership dates and a Child Member Type may have calendar-based membership dates. This is the case in our sample memberships NATW National and Chapter memberships, seen below.
The Child Member Type is a calendar-based Member Type. However, when this membership is sold, it will take the attributes of the Parent Member Type and be based upon anniversary date. This is illustrated under the Membership tab when the membership is sold.
Notice that the Child membership, in this case the Chapter membership, takes on the attributes of the Parent membership and has anniversary-based dates instead of the base Member Type set-up of calendar dates as when originally created.
Shared attributes for Parent and Child extend to beyond just the membership dates. For example, if the Sell Online check box is not enabled for a Parent Member Type, the Child Member Type will also not be sold online. The exception to the online rule is for renewals; if a Parent membership was previously sold online and then disabled, it will still be able to be renewed online for the Member through eWeb.
