Allowing Membership Benefits Flow Down
When setting up a member type or editing a member type, selecting the Allow Benefits Flow Down check box on the Membership Type Information form allows membership benefits to "flow down" to linked organizations or individuals. Benefits can flow from one organization to another and from an organization to an individual, its employees, as well as from an organization directly to an individual. For example, if a parent organization purchases a membership that allows benefits flow down and a subsidiary (child) organization is linked to the (parent) organization, the subsidiary organization will receive member benefits. Individuals linked to the subsidiary organization (i.e., employees of the subsidiary organization) will receive member benefits as well.
Note: Flow down in netFORUM Pro is only available up to 10 degrees of separation from the owner of the flow down membership. If an individual or organization have their own purchased and active membership, it will NOT be indicated on their customer record that they also receive flow down from the linked individual or organization until their purchased membership is terminated and the real-time flowdown is envoked or the backend process runs.
To enable benefits flow down:
-
Hover over the Modules tab in the top navigation bar. In the fly out menu, click Administration.
-
On the CRM / Overview page, expand the Member Types group item and select Find Member Type to search for the desired membership type or List Member Types to select the membership type from the complete list of memberships.
Note: You can also select Find Member Types from the Administration Overview page Manage Your System Set Up Information section.
- Select the desired membership type and the member type profile will load. If the member type is not set to allow benefits flow down, you will see the Benefits Flow Down? setting marked No on the member profile screen. To allow benefits flow down, click the Edit button.
- The Membership Type Information form will appear. To set the membership to allow benefits flow down, click the Allow Benefits Flow Down check box.
- Click Save to preserve changes.
Once the membership type has been set to allow benefits flow down, the Benefits Flow Down? notation on the member type profile will be marked as Yes.
The member type's benefit flow down status is also visible on the List–Member Type list. If the member type is set to allow benefits flow down, a check mark will appear under the Allow Flowdown column.
Processing Membership Benefits Flow Down From the Organization Profile
In addition to processing the membership benefits flow down from the member type profile, you may also process it from the organization profile.
- Navigate to the Organization Profile.
- Under the Membership child form tab in the Membership child form, click the Go To icon next to the membership whose benefits you wish to flow down. The organization's Membership Information screen will appear.
- Click the Flowdown action icon to cause membership benefits to flow down to individuals and organizations linked to the selected organization.
- Click the OK button to close the pop-up window.
If benefits flow down has been enabled for this membership, the Flowdown action icon will appear on this page.
Once the Flowdown action icon is clicked, a pop-up window will display informing you how many records will be processed during this action.
Note: This flow down will only update those profiles that have 1 degree of separation from the customer that owns the flow down membership. IF there are customers with greater than 1 degree of separation the backend process will update those benefits benefits when the backend process runs during the hours of 11 pm and 5am each day. To update the flow down more immediately, go to the customer profile, click on the Membership tab and open the Membership Flow child form.
Note: If the parent organization is no longer a member, the Terminate Date and Terminate Reason Code fields on the Primary Membership Information form must be completed in order for linked individuals to no longer receive member benefits. If these fields are not completed, linked individuals and organizations will continue to receive member benefits. See the Dropping a Membership help topic for more information.
