Adding a Fundraising Source Code to a Fund

Fundraising Source Codes allow you to track which appeals, campaigns, etc. generate the most response in terms of donations to a specific fund.

Adding a source code to a fund will create a hyperlink that you can add to a messaging template that has the source code attached. Whenever that link is clicked in an email, the recipient will be taken to the Donate Now page for the fund that is linked to the source code. When a donation is made from that link, its amount will be associated to that source code to allow you to see which campaigns, appeals, etc. are generating the most revenue for the fund.

To add a Fundraising Source Code, complete the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the fund profile of the fund to which you would like to add a source code.
    • You may either use the List Fund or Find Fund features found in the Fundraising module to locate the desired fund profile.
    • You may follow the step outlined in the Adding a Fund online help topic to create a new fund.
  2. Mouse-over the Actions  icon to expand the Actions fly-out menu.
  3. Click the Add Source Code link.

This will open the Source Code pop-up window.

  4. Click the Generate New checkbox if it is not selected.
  5. The source code name in the Source Code field is auto-generated.

The auto-generated Source Code name uses the following format:

    <first four letters of the fund product code> + <four random integers> + <MM/DD/YY>

In the image above, the source code name is NATW (from the product code of the fund) + 7827 (four random integers) + 090111 (today’s date 09/01/11.)

You may also edit the name in the Source Code field in order to make the source code easier to find in a list and easier to remember what it’s purpose is/was.

  6. Enter the text that will be hyperlinked in the email to take the recipient to the Donate Now page for the fund in the Link Text field.

The Link Text field is optional. The reason this field is optional is that you may wish to reuse this source code for another messaging campaign. Any text entered in the Link Text field will always be used as the clickable text for this source code.

If you decide to leave the Link Text field blank, you will be able to add the desired clickable text on the Messaging Template.

  7. Click the Save button.

The fund profile will update and the source code will be displayed in the Source Code field.
