Removing Social Networking Posting Authorization from eWeb

Build 2011.06 enabled the ability for customers to further engage with each other by posting updates to their social networking accounts (Facebook/Twitter) of their activities on netFORUM such as registering for an Event or making a purchase. Recall that the customer always has a choice of posting this information at the time of purchase by utilizing post to network checkboxes, highlighted below.

Despite this choice, there may come a time that customers want to deauthorize entirely the ability to post from their social accounts. As a result, Abila has made this easier to do by creating a Remove hyperlink on the My Information page on eWeb.

To deauthorize a social networking account from posting netFORUM activities, customers may complete the following steps:

  1. Log-in to eWeb
  2. Goto the My Information page and click the Social Information hyperlink
  3. Next to the authorized social networking account, click the Remove hyperlink (seen below)

  1. Clicking the Remove hyperlink for a Twitter account will automatically remove authorization for your entity’s Twitter app to post to a customer’s account. The Tweet about this purchase selection checkbox seen in the image above will no longer appear during Checkout.

  1. However, please note that to remove Facebook authorization requires that the customer do so from Facebook itself.

Tip: To remove an app’s authorization to post to Facebook, customers should log-in to their Facebook accounts and click the Account Settings hyperlink from the Edit Account arrow drop-down menu on their profile page. Click the app to remove and the delete button (X) next to it. The app will no longer be able to access the customer’s Facebook account or post information to it.
