Uploading Customer Documents to the Server

You can upload a document (e.g., Microsoft Word document) for an individual or organization so that the document is available from the customer profile.

Note: The upload size limit for each document is 2MB.

To upload a document:

  1. Go to the Individual Profile (or Organization Profile).

  2. On the Notes tab, on the Documents child form, click the Add button.

  1. In the Upload Document Information window, click the Upload button.

  2. In the Document Upload window, click Browse to search for the file on your computer.

  3. In the Choose file window, select the document and click Open.

  4. After you select the file, the file path for the document displays in the Document File field.

  5. Enter a Description for the document (required).

  6. Click Save/Upload File. This process uploads the file to the netFORUM server at Abila.

  7. In the Upload Document Information window, the description defaults into the Description field.

  8. Click Save again.

The document is now linked to the Individual or Organization customer record from the Notes tab, Documents child form. You can access a file that has been uploaded to the Documents child form by clicking the File Description.

On the Documents child form:

  • The Edit icon next to the document allows you to upload a new document, choose a new document from the server to use in place of the current document, or delete the document currently assigned to this child form (but not entirely from the server which means it may always be accessed at a later date) by using the Delete button. If you choose to upload a new document, click the Delete Uploaded File button after you click the Upload button to remove the old file first before choosing your new file. If you do not remove the old document first, you may have file corruption issues. The difference between the Delete Uploaded File button and other Delete buttons and icons on this child form is that, similar to when you use the Upload button described below, the Delete Uploaded File button will enable you to remove the file completely from the server before you upload a new file.
  • The Delete icon allows you to delete the document from the Documents child form. Similar to the Edit button, it does not delete the document from the server permanently which means it may be accessed at a later date through the Look-up functionality.
  • The Upload button allows you to upload a new document (similar to the Edit icon).  Just as with the Edit button, you should remove the old file first. Further, the Upload button permanently deletes the document from the server. This means it will no longer be accessible through the Look-up functionality until it is uploaded once more.
